RHM’s philosophy is to focus on particular geographical areas and to work with existing project team workers. We identify effective ways of empowering those in need by establishing training facilities and assisting with setting up small business enterprise. We aim to empower our partners in sustainable ways and enable people to take control of their own lives.
We carefully assess all project proposals to ensure as best as we can that resources will be used responsibly and effectively. For larger projects a business plan may be required plus, where appropriate, an examination of existing accounts.
We establish a formal ‘Heads of Agreement’ between ourselves and the senior member of the project team. Once in a partnering relationship, we provide the resources that we have agreed to. This is generally money, but it may involve the provision of special equipment from the UK or the expert skills or services of one of our team or Business Partners. We require regular project reports. This is good discipline for the project teams and provides encouraging feedback to RHM’s donor partners who can see what difference is being made.
Some very small scale projects are effectively one-off interest-free loans and are called Business-to-Business loans. These are carefully assessed by Robin Hood and executed with minimum bureaucracy.
A Child Sponsorship Scheme is being applied in Romania and Tanzania for children most in need. We offer our donors the opportunity to give £20 per month to make a real difference to a child’s life. This will cover a daily meal, some essential clothing and items for school, medicines and a contribution towards leisure activities.
