Matt Graham

Matt started his writing career on the BBC soap, EastEnders and over 5 years wrote over 40 episodes. Around that time he became a lead writer on the children’s’ drama series, Byker Grove where he created many storylines for a couple of blushing young Geordie kids called Ant and Dec! Matt went on to create original dramas; starting with “The Last Train” - a post-apocalypse ITV series about surviving the end of the world; following this up with Reach For The Moon, which couldn’t have been more different – about young school teachers in love on the Isle Of Wight! He then began developing a very weird time travel cop show for a production company called Kudos. During that time Matt also worked on two other shows of theirs, Spooks and Hustle. In 2005 Kudos was ready to start filming Matt’s “weird little cop show” - Life On Mars. Of course this changed everything for Matt and he formed production company Monastic, with Mars co-creator Ashley Pharoah. Together they went on to make the Gene Hunt spin-off show, Ashes To Ashes and the West Country based archaeological adventure series, Bonekickers which is now being re-developed as a TV show for America.

Matt has been interested in and supportive of Robin Hood Ministries for over 4 years. He states, “The big difference with Robin Hood Ministries is that you can donate money and see it in action so quickly. Because the team are focused on a number of specific projects, they have managed to build personal connections with those they are supporting in Romania, Tanzania, Nepal, India and Malawi. When I was able to give a donation towards a new mini-bus for the project in Iasi in Romania, within one month I could see a photo of that new bus on the web-site and had received a letter from Valentine, the project leader in Iasi. I believe this connection between ‘Us’ and ‘Them’ is vital and forms part of the wider ethos of Robin Hood Ministries. I am delighted to be part of Robin Hood Ministries and would encourage your to join the family who want to help change lives to the less fortunate in our developing world“.
